DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) -Â The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across central Illinois.

Day of the Dead 2025
The Illinois State Museum in Springfield will host its annual Day of the Dead (DÃa de los Muertos) celebration on Saturday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The free event honors loved ones who have passed away and highlights Latin culture through dancing, games, activities, and refreshments.
Presented in partnership with the Hispanic Women of Springfield and the UIS Diversity Center, the celebration invites the community to connect, remember, and celebrate together.

Pumpkin Fest at the RailyardÂ
The Railyard on 66 is hosting its first-ever Pumpkin Fest on Saturday, November 1, starting at 11 a.m.
Guests can enjoy a full day of fall fun with live music, photo ops, and pumpkin-themed food and drink specials from all six Railyard vendors.
With performances from 1–4 p.m. and 6–9 p.m., it's the perfect cozy celebration to kick off November under the twinkle lights.

Cupcake 5KÂ Â
The Cupcake 5K invites runners, walkers, and wheelchair users to hit the course for a sweet cause — and finish with a cupcake at the end.
Proceeds support the CUSR Scholarship Fund, helping individuals access programs and services through financial assistance.
Participants are encouraged to register early and check the CUSR Facebook page for updates and race details.

Nutcracker! Magical Christmas BalletÂ
The magic of the holidays begins in Decatur as The "Nutcracker: A Magical Christmas Ballet" kicks off its national tour at Millikin University's Kirkland Fine Arts Center on Sunday, November 2, at 4 p.m.
The cast and crew will transform Kirkland into a creative hub of dance, music, and stagecraft. Presented by Nutcracker!
Magical Christmas Ballet, the show brings Tchaikovsky's classic score to life with stunning choreography, lavish sets, and a journey through the enchanting Land of Sweets.

Merry Makers Craft Fair
The Merry Makers Craft Fair returns to Stratford Park Bible Chapel in Champaign on Saturday, November 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The free event features local vendors and artisans offering everything from handmade soaps and crochet items to jewelry and gluten-free or vegan treats.
Shoppers can browse a wide variety of creative, handcrafted goods just in time for the holiday season.
