DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Visitors to the Staley Museum celebrated the patriotic spirit at the museum's "mini market" Saturday.

People got the opportunity to create red, white and blue porch pot arrangements with help from master gardeners. The event also featured a special appearance from miniature therapy ponies.

Organizers said the event was designed to celebrate the season and build excitement ahead of America's 250th birthday.

"I think that any time this museum or any other site in Decatur can engage with it's community, it is an excellent thing," Staley Museum Director Laura Jahr said. "We here at the museum want the community to know who we are and what we're doing. We want them to feel like this is a place where they can come have some fun and learn something new."

This was the second year of the event at the museum.
