DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A man has been arrested after two people were stabbed in Decatur Wednesday. 

Decatur police told WAND News 60-year-old Lee Bryson was arrested in connection with the stabbing near the Oxford House apartment building.

According to a sworn statement, DPD officers responded to Decatur Memorial Hospital in reference to several people who had been stabbed.

The sworn statement said officers spoke to the woman who had been stabbed. She said she was in a vehicle with several people, including Bryson, as they dropped him off at his apartment in the 2700 block of Monroe Street around 1 p.m.

The woman told police that when the group got to the parking lot, Bryson and her got out of the car, and Bryson started calling her names and shoved her to the ground, according to the sworn.

Police said another man in the group pushed Bryson away from the woman before getting back in the car. That is when Bryson pulled out a folding knife, slicing the woman in the arm and the man in the face, according to the sworn statement.

The victims are expected to recover. 

Police did search Bryson's apartment, where they found a folding knife with a "red blood-like substance" dried on it, the sworn said.

Bryson was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.

He was denied pre-trial release in his first court appearance on Thursday. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday, May 6th.
