5 Things to do this weekend

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across central Illinois.

Here is a selection of events, markets, concerts and more happening Friday, April 3, to Sunday, April 5. 

Route 66 Drive-In opening weekend

Enjoy opening weekend at the Route 66 Drive-In theater in Springfield. Featured offerings will include the highly anticipated "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie," "Reminders of Him," "Project Hail Mary" and " Mercy."

Eggstravaganza

A most egg-cellent event as the Eggstravaganza Easter egg drive-thru returns to Knights Action Park. Gather the kids and let them load up on candy and other surprises while supplies last. 

When: Saturday, April 4, 9-11 a.m. 

Where: 1700 Knights Recreation Drive, Springfield

Easter at Aikman Wildlife

Celebrate Easter at Aikman Wildlife Adventure on Saturday. Activities are set to include yard games, a large outdoor jungle gym, a petting zoo, a bounce house and an Easter egg hunt featuring over 2,000 eggs. 

When: Saturday, April 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Critter Egg Hunt

Scovill Zoo in Decatur reopened just in time for Easter festivities. The Critter Egg Hunt is free for kids up to age 10. Zoo admission will be $4 before and after the event.

When: Saturday, April 4, at 1:40 p.m., 1:55 p.m. and 2:10 p.m.; all ages special needs egg hunt at 1:20 p.m.

Easter Brunch Buffet

Not in the mood to cook on Easter Sunday? Neil St. Blues can handle it and then some during its seventh annual Easter Brunch Buffet. On the menu is fried chicken, dressing, sage cornbread, biscuits and gravy, ham, baked mac and cheese, hash brown casserole and more. 

Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are encouraged. Those interested can call 217-531-1150 to reserve their table.
