CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — An 18-year-old man was hurt after a shooting in Champaign Tuesday night.
The Champaign Police Department responded to the 100 block of North Mattis Avenue just before 7 p.m. for a report of a shooting.
That is near Schnucks located in Champaign Commons.
Officers said they found an 18-year-old man a few blocks away from the incident that had been shot.
According to police, the victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
After investigation, Champaign police said the 18-year-old was in a parking lot when someone started shooting. After being shot, the man got in a vehicle and left. Police found him in the 700 block of Country Fair Drive.
The Champaign Police Department is still searching for the shooter. Any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance cameras is asked to notify the police department.
