SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - CWLP crews finished repairing a 24-inch water main break in Springfield late Monday night.Â

Water crews started emergency repairs to a broken water transmission main in the 3100 block of South Fourth St. Monday afternoon.Â
The repair was completed at 11:45 Monday night.Â

Customers were without water during the work. It impacted about 80 customers, including the 2600 to 3100 blocks of S. Fourth St. from E. Farley St. to E. Cordelia St. and the shopping center with the former County Market grocery store in the 2700 block of S. Sixth St.Â
Work started at 12:30 p.m. and will take several hours.Â
CWLP had posted an update to Facebook at 4:30 p.m. stating that crews were finishing up repairs and water service would be restored soon after.Â
Then, CWLP emailed an update to WAND News at 9 p.m., which said that crews were working on a leak to the same water main, and water service would be interrupted until repairs were made.Â
