Bears fans and mayors hoping to land megaprojects are anxiously waiting to see action on the Payment in Lieu of Taxes, or PILOT, bill with two weeks left in the theoretical fourth quarter. 

Illinois House Republicans want to be brought to the table to negotiate stronger property tax relief included in the state's megaprojects bill.

The Illinois House passed a massive proposal Wednesday night that could help keep the Chicago Bears in Illinois and create economic development for downtown Springfield. 

Rep. Kam Buckner (D-Chicago) told reporters in Springfield Tuesday that he is optimistic that at least 60 members of the Democratic caucus will support his plan.

Gov. JB Pritzker told reporters in Springfield Tuesday that he would like to see state lawmakers pass legislation to keep the Chicago Bears in Illinois sooner rather than later.

The Payment of Lieu of Taxes plan could benefit companies hoping to have megaprojects across the entire state, so it's not strictly for the Chicago Bears.
