First Narcan box in Ford County

FORD COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - The first Narcan Box in Ford County is now up and available. 

The Ford County Public Health Department and Ford County Recovers posted that the Narcan box is up at Gibson City Laundromat. 

More locations will be coming soon. 

"This is a huge step forward in our Opioid Harm Reduction Program, brought to you by Ford County Public Health Department and Ford County ROSC. Saving lives just got a whole lot easier," the health department posted to Facebook. 

The box provides Narcan free of charge and is available 24/7, no questions asked. 

Anyone can grab one. You do not have to be in crisis to take it.
 
The health department said, "Having it on hand can save a friend, family member, or even a stranger."
 
In the event of an overdose emergency, administer two sprays, call 911, and stay with the person, the health department said.
