DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A man previously arrested in connection with the January 2025 shooting death of a Decatur teen has had his case dismissed, according to Macon County court records.

Dana Bond Jr. was taken into custody in March on first-degree murder charges for the death of 19-year-old Izreal Lewis.

The shooting happened on Jan. 28, when Decatur police were called to the 500 block of S. Church Street around noon. Officers arrived to find Lewis in a parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital but later died from his injuries.

Investigators used probable cause to arrest Bond, who was booked into the Macon County Jail while the case moved forward in court.

According to newly filed court documents, a judge has now dismissed the case without prejudice — meaning prosecutors could choose to refile charges at a later time if additional evidence becomes available.
