PANA, Ill. (WAND) - A major project is coming to Pana, which will include a complete rebuild of Route 29, running through half the city.Â
The project comes after three years of collaboration and planning with the Illinois Department of Transportation, according to a Facebook post from Pana Mayor Nathan Pastor.
The project will be a complete rebuild and is expected to take at least a year, with July 28, 2027, being the projected completion date.Â
The finished product will include new gutters, curbs and sidewalks.Â
"This is a long-awaited project that will make a positive impact on travel through our community as well as all of us [who] travel Route 29 each day," Pastor said in a statement.Â
IDOT will also coordinate with the city on traffic control, road closures and detours.Â
