BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WAND) — The National Weather Service confirmed several tornadoes across central Illinois after day one of storm surveying Saturday.
The NWS said day one of surveying focused on McLean County after severe weather moved across central Illinois Friday night.
According to the NWS, additional work is needed, but the agency identified five tornadoes in McLean County:
- EF1 tornado from Normal to Towanda, peak wind speed of 110 mph, on the ground for 10.3 miles
- EF1 tornado in Bloomington, from the Bloomington Country Club to the intersection of Ft. Jesse Road and Towanda-Barnes Road, peak wind speed of 110 mph, on the ground for 4.1 miles

The Iroquois County EMA also confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched down near Buckley. The agency said it is still reviewing the data, but the same system traveled through Watseka and into Kentland.
According to the Iroquois County EMA, the damage done in Watseka appears to be from straight line winds, but they will continue working with the NWS to assess the data and issue a final determination.
The NWS said more survey teams will go out on Sunday. One will concentrate on Fulton, Tazewell and Mason Counties, while the other will focus on Piatt, Champaign and Vermilion Counties.Â
The agency said more surveys may be needed on Monday as well.
