DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Friday! It will be a breezy but mild day as temperatures start to climb above freezing. A system to the north is bringing in some light sleet and freezing rain to areas north of I-74 this morning. This looks light, but could lead to some slick spots and dangerous driving conditions through 9 am. That system will move eastward through the day, leading to dry conditions for the afternoon.
Winds will be strong through the afternoon with gusts around 35 mph. Temperatures will warm up into the upper 30s and low 40s despite the cloudy conditions. Temperatures will drop overnight as clouds clear. Temperatures will be in the teens early Saturday morning.
Temperatures will rebound on Sunday. Cloudy skies will give way to some sunshine as high temperatures push into the low 40s. Temperatures in the 50s will return next week, giving Central Illinois a much-needed break from the bitter cold.
Have a great weekend!
